Tuesday 27th September 2016

It’s that time again and the alarm clock screen is not reading clearly due to it’s meeting with the wardrobe and it is barely functioning by being held together with 2 x Elastoplast.

I set out on my bike and realise that a Morning ride is wonderful. The only problem is that it comes at such an inconvenient time of day.

Anyhow I am joined on my ride into work today  by Ric Timpson, Tony Norman and Sarah (Laura Trott) Prince, who is quite happy to set the pace why we barely hand on to the chain gang.

The ride in this morning was brilliant as the company and chatter took away the burning sensation coming from my posterior. I feel like the Johnny Cash Song “RING OF FIRE”. So while I was cycling I changed some of the Lyrics to fit as follows:

Saddles are a burning thing
And it makes a fiery ring.
Bound by wild desire
I’m sat on a ring of fire.

I’m sat on a burning ring of fire,
I keep sitting down, down, down and the pain goes higher
And it burns, burns, burns,
The saddle of fire, the saddle of fire.

On walking into work it was fantastic to see Chris Bibby back in work and with a smile on his face. Chris was only discharged from Tameside Hospital at 6pm last night and shows what he is made of by being in work and raring to go. This is one of the reasons I am doing this challenge as NO MATTER WHAT Chris will keep battling, its just unfortunate that his and his wife’s dream house needs to be modified for his illness. This just drives me on to help as best that I can.

I rode home on my own tonight and I have to honestly say that I missed having someone to talk to and just enjoy the ride with. Tonight it also hit my how tired my body in particular how heavy my legs are feeling. I felt like my bike had square wheels and that I was going nowhere fast.

Once I got in a was so glad for my evening meal and then a soak in a nice hot bath.

1140 MILES completed and 76 hours in the Saddle although I may change the saddle for more comfortable style soon.

On FRIDAY 30TH SEPTEMBER 2016 which is the FINAL DAY of the challenge – Chris will be riding with me on his Hand-Bike and WE WOULD LOVE FOR AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE TO JOIN US ON THE RIDE

WE AIM TO SET OFF FROM THE VELODROME (National Cycling Centre) @ 09:00am (meet at 08:30am)

The route is from the National Cycling Centre to just near Ashton Moss Tram (Near to work). The route will be up Ashton Old Road

ALSO I know I keep asking but please try to  donate whatever you can to this challenge / charity as the money will go towards helping Chris and his Family raise funds to convert the downstairs garage into a bedroom for Chris (This last week he was sleeping on a blow up bed on his own downstairs)
